Stretch marks usually occur when the body goes through drastic growth, including pregnancy, weight gain or loss or rapid growth spurt during puberty. They usually appear as thick, white rigid lines and can feel differently from normal, healthy skin.
Even though stretch marks are not anywhere near dangerous or life-threatening, it can create self-esteem issues due to its obvious and unsightly appearance. People, especially women, lose confidence due to the presence of stretch marks in areas like arms, thighs, and tummy.
Some stretch marks may disappear over time, but some may be permanent throughout the lifetime and it can hinder and change the lifestyle one is desired to live.
